Abstrakt: S válkou na Ukrajině a příchodem desetitisíců dětských uprchlíků do Česka nastal na mnoha školách problém: Co s nimi? Příspěvek se zaměřuje na pro- blematiku nucené migrace a její dopady na děti pohledem jejich matek. Děti uprchlíků čelí často posttraumatickému stresu, úzkostem a problémům s in- tegrací, ale zároveň vykazují značnou odolnost. Na základě 15 hloubkových rozhovorů s imigrantkami-matkami popisujeme proces adaptace jejich dětí v českých školách, popisujeme jejich vzdělávací strategie, sociální interakce mezi českými a ukrajinskými žáky a vliv rodinných aspirací na migrační roz- hodnutí. Nedostatečná podpora ze strany školy může vést k izolaci dětí a jejich neúspěšné integraci, naopak jejich spokojenost hraje klíčovou roli ve stabilizaci života v exilu pro ně i jejich rodiny.

Title: YOU DON’T THINK ABOUT YOURSELF, YOU THINK ABOUT YOUR CHILDREN” – ADAPTATION OF CHILD REFUGEES FROM UKRAINE FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THEIR MOTHERS
Abstract: With the war in Ukraine and the arrival of tens of thousands of child refugees to the Czech Republic, many schools have encountered problems: What to do with them? The paper focuses on the issue of forced migration and its impact on children from the perspective of their mothers. Based on 15 in-depth interviews with immigrant-mothers, we describe the process of their children’s adaptation in Czech schools, their educational strategies, social interactions between Czech and Ukrainian students, and the influence of family aspiration on migration decisions. Lack of support from the school can lead to children’s isolation and unsuccessful integration; on the contrary, their satisfaction plays a key role in stabilizing life in exile for them and their families.
