Abstrakt: Význam účasti žáků na školním vyučování obecně uznáván. V některých zemích proto stoupá zájem o sledování docházky, resp. absencí jako důležitého non-kognitivního ukazatele kvality práce školy. Probíhá však diskuse o vhodnosti různých indikátorů pro monitorování docházky. Cílem práce je pro vzorek českých škol v typově různých lokalitách stanovit hodnoty možných indikátorů docházky a porovnat je s dostupnými zahraničními daty.

Title: The Challenges of Measuring Attendance and Absenteeism in Czech Schools
Abstract: Absenteeism is reported to be a major problem in Czech schools in excluded localities. Despite the importance of regular attendance, we lack information on both the average absenteeism rates and their variation between individual students, groups and schools in the Czech Republic. One reason of this might be the challenges that exist for choosing the optimal indicator(s) to measure attendance/absenteeism. Objectives of this paper: To assess the levels of several indicators of students‘ attendance in a sample of Czech schools and compare their properties. Methods: Literature review and explorative quantitative analysis of administrative micro-data. Expected results: An overview of different attendance indicators from international literature and their levels for different school systems will be provided. The indicators will be calculated and compared for a sample of seven Czech schools.
