Abstrakt: Cílem příspěvku je zmapovat dějiny československého základního školství ve druhé polovině 20. století, přičemž se autoři zaměří na nejdůležitější milníky, které zásadně ovlivnily podobu škol a jejich fungování. Téma přitom uchopí ve dvou základních rovinách. První rovina výkladu se zaměří na makrohistorické milníky, které měly zcela zásadní dopad na život společnosti i na oblast školství. Druhou rovinu výkladu tvoří mikrohistorie, kde lze ukázat, jak mnohovrstevnatá byla realita života učitelů v Československu ve zkoumaném období.

Title: Between Authoritarian and Democratic Regime. Historical Milestones of the Primary Education in Czechoslovakia during the Second Half of the 20th Century
Abstract: The Czechoslovak history can be likened to a drama consisting of several acts. In some of the acts, we can perceive great hopes and building of a free democratic state. In the others, there can be a deliberate suppression of freedom or democratic principles seen. The shaping of the school system and teaching profession can be perceived in a similar way. In the article, the authors will, therefore, focus on the history of Czechoslovak primary education during the second half of the 20th century, approaching the topic on the two basic levels. The first level of interpretation focuses on macro-historical milestones that have had a crucial impact on the society‘s life as well as on the education. The second level of interpretation is devoted to microhistory. On this level, it is possible to demonstrate how multi-layered and difficult the reality of life of teachers in Czechoslovakia during the reviewed period was.
