Title: How Inclusive Education Succeeds and Fails in the Czech Republic and Slovakia?

Abstract: This poster gives an account of the life of children in the relatively harsh worlds of school classes. It shows how the primary school contributes to the exclusion of pupils or, on the contrary, stimulates their inclusion into the children’s group. The results are based upon long-term qualitative inductive and ethnographic fieldwork. To some extent, the research was conducted in the framework of Goffmanian interactionism. The data for this study have been collected over a period of ten months in twelve elementary schools located in various regions of the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic. The results draw attention to many aspects of social exclusion in educational institutions and point to the obstacles of educational process. The poster is complemented by numerous illustrations, giving the reader a better understanding of what is going on in the school environment.
