Title: DIDACTIC KNOWLEDGE OF CONTENT AS A KEY TOOL FOR THE REALISATION OF TEACHERS‘ COMPETENCES IN THE REFLECTION OF THE TEACHING PRACTICE OF STUDENTS TEACHING SCIENCE
Abstract: The research investigation focuses on the assessment of the professional and didactic educational readiness of students in the course of continuous teaching practice in the context of the formation of teachers‘ competences and didactical knowledge of content (Shulman, 1986). The aim is to monitor and determine in the long term which competences are built up by the pregraduate preparation of future science teachers themselves, which form and develop in the long term in the context of teaching practice. The teacher’s competence as a set of professional skills and disposition is understood in the sense of Vašutová (2001) as a synthesis of subject, pedagogical didactic, social and managerial skills. Its reflection in its own teaching process is didactic knowledge of content. This Czech equivalent to Shulman’s „pedagogical knowledge content“ introduces Janík (2004) as a possibility and part of the professionalization of teaching with regard to the specificities of individual teaching subjects (Janík, 2009). The survey was carried out in the form of a research probe to monitor the occurrence and level of the teacher’s sub-competences with the students of the science school. The methodological basis for the research investigation was a structured questionnaire and its quantitative analysis. On the basis of standard statistical methods (e.g. Hráska 2008), relative frequencies, variability and dependency rates of the observed phenomena were identified. From the point of view of the didactic knowledge of content, the greatest problems for future teachers of nature were identified in the level of curricular knowledge. When designing teaching, the main criteria for selecting the teacher were the textbook. The students were not based on the school curriculum and their expected output, but on the content of the teacher’s textbooks and guidance. The organizational and educational aspects of the educational process appeared to be complicated for students, but professional and methodical preparedness was very well assessed.
