Title: Assessment on L2 Speaking at Secondary Vocational Business School
Abstract: The case study plans to show what happens behind the classroom door providing a deep insight into the assessment practices of ESL/EFL learning at a Czech secondary vocational business school. Based on a constructivist approach to learning and assessment the author believes many teachers of English incorporate some aspects of formative assessment into their teaching, however, it is probably not yet used as a framework for teaching at this level of education. The expected outcomes are to find good practices of formative assessment techniques which are found beneficial for both teachers and learners. The qualitative research method with the design research of a case study used descriptive methods.The data collection consisted of several phases and methods: class observations of teachers and students (video recordings), the semi-structured individual interviews with school management and teachers, focus groups with their students.
