Strategie řízení třídy jsme měřili pomocí naší české on-line verze dotazníku Behavioral and Instructional Management Scale – BIMS (Martin & Sass, 2010) a potřebu kognitivní uzavřenosti pomocí Need for (Cognitive) Closure Scale – NFCS (Roets & Van Hiel, 2011) v adaptaci Širůčka (2014).

Title: TRADE MANAGEMENT STRATEGY FOR TEACHERS OF TEACHERS IN PRACTICE AND THEIR CIVIL TEACHERS OF THE NEEDS OF COGNITAL CLOSURE

Abstract: The purpose of the contribution is to present the results of the questionnaire examination of class management strategies for class teachers at the second level of primary schools and their training teachers, in relation to their need for cognitive closure, as one of the key personality characteristics affecting class management. The study was supported by GA CR in the project Class Management Strategy for teachers and experienced teachers (their „training teachers“) at the second level of primary school (GA16-02177S). Class management can be seen as a system of strategies used by the teacher to influence the physical and psychosocial environment of the class in order to strengthen learning (Christofferson, Sullivan, & Bradley, 2015) and pupils achieved good results. Class management and class discipline are key skills teachers (Stronge, Ward, & Grant, 2011) and are a major challenge for beginners (Bromfield, 2006; Dickson et al., 2014), with whom they often fight, although they can mediate teaching (Stoughton et al., 2007). The need for cognitive closure or openness to experience is one of the key variables playing a role in class management. At present, emphasis is placed on positive support for pupils‘ behaviour rather than on partial discipline measures (reactive management strategies) to promote a positive climate class (Mitchell, Bradshaw, & Knoff, 2013). Proactive strategies are implemented through teaching instructions and support for self-regulation of pupils (Wallace, Sung, & Williams, 2014). We measured the class management strategy using our Czech online version of the Behavioral and Instructional Management ScaleBIMS (Martin & Sass, 2010) questionnaire and the need for cognitive closure using the Need for (Cognitive) Closure ScaleNFCS (Roets & Van Hiel, 2011) in the adaptation of Shiříček (2014). The basic ensemble consisted of 239 teachers in the 1st year of the follow-up Master’s degree at PdF MU (full selection) at the first formal practice at the 2nd grade in the spring semester 2016. The same questionnaires as students were filled out by their training teachers. The research sample includes 149 of these pairs. The NFCS questionnaire shows good psychometric properties on a sample of teachers and their training teachers. In the contribution we will focus on whether and, where appropriate, in which aspects students of teaching and their training teachers differ in terms of their need for cognitive closure from population standard (Šiříček, 2014). Preliminary results show a link between the need for cognitive closure and declared class management strategies. The results will be used to support the reflexive practice of teachers at PdF MU.
