Abstract: The paper compares the adoption, implementation and modification of new curricula in two jurisdictions: in a Western nation with a longdemocratic tradition – Scotland; and a post-socialist Central European country– the Czech Republic. Both countries in 21st century introduced profound curricular reforms using the opportunity window after major political change(devolution, democratisation).
