Title: Relationships between teachers and burnout syndrome
Abstract: Teaching as a stresfull profession is at risk of burnout. To prevent the burnout, it is necessary to analyze what supports satisfaction and what increases stress. The presented study is part of a research of burnout among primary school teachers which had two parts: (1) a questionnaire survey (n = 2394) and (2) 12 case studies of primary schools. The aim of the study was to explore the link between perceived quality of professional relationships and of burnout syndrome at Czech primary schools. The study compared data from the SBMB scale, from a questionnaire on the quality of relationships at school, and from semi-structured interviews (analysed with thematic analysis). Teachers perceive relationships in their schools rather positively and feel satisfied in them. The link between the perceived quality of relationships and burnout is statistically significant.
