Title: Arguments in the classroom. The use of philosophical analysis for research of students‘ arguments

Abstract: The paper is focused on a qualitative analysis of students‘ arguments with emphasis on discussion of the method of analysis and methodological consequences of various data categorization. Firstly, we will focus on the typology of arguments using the concept of argumentation schemes, secondly, on the analysis of arguments in critical discussion and, third, on the epistemological level of argumentativeness. The educational community has long agreed that students should play an active role in classroom discourse (Resnick et al., 2015). And the arguments are seen as a key indicator on the learning. The empirical research is based primarily on video recordings of the 9th grade of elementary school classes, which we did only in four selected schools, where we always recorded six lessons. In this paper, we will focus on critical dialogue, which differs from others by the absence of teacher feedback. Although it appears the least in our data, it is considered the most important in theory (Walton, 2008).
