Title: Computer assisted text analysis as part of quantitative educational research
Abstract: The aim of the presentation is to introduce selected possibilities of computer assisted text analysis (CATA) for the purposes of quantitative educational research. Following Roberts (2000), Hájek (2014), Gavora (2015) and other authors, the CATA space within social and educational sciences is defined. Possibilities of its application in selected software are presented using specific examples. CATA faces many limits and requires a very sensitive application. Nevertheless, it has a high potential in educational research, because it is a helpfull tool for the purpose of analyzing large amounts of text. It allows to enrich purely quantitative but also mixed research surveys. It is a challenge for creative researchers with a sense of words and numbers.
