V příspěvku sleduji, na základě rekonstrukce hlavních směrů diskuse o profesi učitele vedené v učitelských spolcích, čtyři znaky procesu profesionalizace meziválečného učitelstva v ČSR – snahy o vysokoškolské vzdělání učitelstva, úsilí o reformu školy, propojení učitelské profese s výstupy pedagogického výzkumu, síťování učitelstva a učitelských organizací s představiteli širšího společenského a politického života.

Klíčová slova: profesionalizace učitelstva, vzdělávání učitelů v historickém kontextu, učitelské organizace

Title: Professionalization of teachers in democratic social relations – example of the Czech interwar discussion

Abstract: The article analyses the discussion in the central teachers‘ association in the interwar period in Czechoslovakia, Československá obec učitelská (ČOU), as an example of a teachers‘ organisation that actively supported the goals of teacher professionalisation within the framework of the so-called First Phase (Heite/Kessl 2009). Taking into account methodological approaches Popkewitz (Popkewitz 2014) and the role and significance of historical contexts in the process of teacher professionalization (professionalism of teacher, Hargreaves 2000, Apel et all 1999), I analyse the language of the teachers‘ association in the association press (Časopis ČOU). Using ČOU as an example, the importance of teacher associations can be reconstructed in four areas: 1) the question of teacher training at universities, 2) the concept of school reform, 3) the importance of pedagogical scientific research, 4) networking teachers with organisations of broader social and political life (Kasperová 2018).
